Hi,
Welcome to Looking Around Boston, a newsletter about art and culture in Boston and beyond. If you aren’t already signed up, you can do that here.
My apartment is on day 5 of isolation. We haven’t gone anywhere except the grocery store and CVS, and on walks (and we’re keeping our distance from anyone else we see). I hope you’re also doing your part to stop the spread of coronavirus.
I thought this issue could be a nice comment thread where we all share a piece of art we love and that would make others feel a bit better, too. So please comment below and share a link to a favorite painting or sculpture that we can all enjoy, and tell us what you love about it.
Mine is Monet’s Water Lilies from the MFA in Boston. It’s so beautiful and soothing.
Thanks for reading,
Cordelia
I'm remembering "In the Wash House" by Anne Klumpke at the Clark a few years ago (link here, couldn't figure out how to attach) https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%27In_the_Wash-house%27_by_Anna_Elizabeth_Klumpke,_1888.JPG
I love Susanna in the Bath and the Stoning of the Elders by Albrecht Altdorfer. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Albrecht_Altdorfer_Susanna_in_the_Bath_and_the_Stoning_of_the_Elders.jpg
